May 12th Morning Report

US markets closed lower on Thursday dragged down by Walt Disney Co. as it lost subscribers, while PacWest led declines in regional banks after posting a drop in deposits. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.09%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.45% and up 1.04% respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.14%), the Dax 30 (-0.39%), CAC 40 (+0.28%) and the STOXX (+0.07%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.02%), HSI (-0.09%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.29%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.386%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.899%. Oil was up to $71.51 per barrel, down 1.45%. The gold price was at US$2020.10 per ounce, down 0.83%.
