National Mail is jumping into the Wellington market boots and all by offering businesses there a cut-price postal rate.

The listed postal company is offering Wellington businesses the chance to buy large packs of pre-paid envelopes for 30 cents per letter.

Chief Executive, Antony Fowler, said the special offer marks the company's expansion into the capital after more than a year's successful operation in the Auckland region.

"By using our prepaid envelopes, businesses posting letters to customers in either the greater Wellington or Auckland areas will be able to significantly reduce their mailing costs. In addition, we can offer even greater savings to businesses with volume or special mail requirements."

National Mail began its Wellington service last week.
