A former employment lawyer is to take over the steering at tourism operator Shotover Jet (NZSE: SJL).

SJL has appointed a current Carter Holt (NZSE: CAH) executive, Adrian Januszkiewicz, as its new chief executive.

Mr Januszkiewicz has spent the past seven years with Carter Holt, most recently as the New Zealand GM of the company's carton packaging division, where he lead a restructuring of the division's business.

Previously he practiced law for seven years both at legal firms and Telecom New Zealand (NZSE: TEL).

Shotover Jet chairman, Wayne Boyd, describes Mr Januszkiewicz as a highly talented young manager with an impressive record of achievement, who has worked in human resource management, marketing and executive management.

The new appointment replaces previous MD, Jim Boult, who announced in February he was leaving the company to pursue private business interests.

Mr Boult owns 75% of Armada Tourism which last week said it was purchasing Christchurch's Mt Cavendish gondola from New Zealand Experience (NZSE: NZX) for $1.4 million.

Armada is also currently completing the purchase of the Christchurch Tramway.

In March Shotover Jet announced that Ngai Tahu Investments had purchased 13.2 million shares from Mr Boult's company, Armada Holdings, taking its stake in the company to 80.5%,.
