US markets closed lower on Friday and all three major indexes posted weekly losses - as investors braced for more possible downside surprises a day after disappointing earnings from Apple. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.43%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.36% and up 0.53% respectively.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.47%), the Dax 30 (+0.37%), CAC 40 (+0.75%) and the STOXX (+0.66%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.10%), HSI (+0.61%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.23%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.042%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.768%. Oil was up to $82.64 per barrel, down 0.22%. The gold price was at US$1978.20 per ounce, up 0.11%.
