Former Transpower chief executive Patrick Strange has joined the board of the stock market operator, NZX.
Strange, who headed up the national electricity grid operator for six years, will join the NZX board as an independent director effective tomorrow, with shareholders approving the appointment at the annual meeting later next month, the Wellington based company said. He is also a director of Mighty River Power, Chorus, Worksafe New Zealand, and of the joint board of Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy, Australia.
The stock market operator has outsourced its indices to S&P Dow Jones Indices, the international market indices firm, to produce and commercialise new indices across equity markets and fixed income securities. It is also targeting New Zealand's growing fund management sector, acquiring fund manager Superlife last year for $20 million in cash and shares.
Shares of NZX last traded at $1.17.
