Australian managing director resigns from A&R Whitcoulls

Swales was appointed managing director of the A&R Division in 2001 and over the past four years has focused on strengthening the operational and people capabilities of the business. Swales began work with A&R Whitcoulls (formerly WH Smith) in a marketing role 1995 and has resigned to pursue other business opportunities.

Tom Sturgess, Chairman A&R Whitcoulls, said he was very thankful to Swales for her contribution to the company, particularly as managing director during a period of consolidation and change. "I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Judith. I'd like to thank her for her contribution and wish her all the best," said Sturgess.

A&R Whitcoulls will be looking to fill the role of Australian managing director as soon as possible, with the aim of building on the strong experience of the existing team.

In the interim Ian Draper, New Zealand managing director of the Whitcoulls division will provide day to day operational oversight of A&R.
