The US market closed lower on Friday amid a sudden setback in the US labor market an a 12% spike in US oil prices due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.95%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.33% and 1.59% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.24%), the Dax 30 (-0.94%), CAC 40 (-0.65%) and the STOXX (-1.09%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.62%), HSI (+1.72%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.38%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.138%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.556%. Oil was up to $90.90 per barrel, up 12.21%. The gold price was at US$5158.70 per ounce, up 1.58%.
