Text too small?

It is indeed “job done” for the digital innovation start up of the same name which has secured a business relationship with dairy giant Fonterra Cooperative Group after delivering the winning pitch at an Auckland innovation event the cooperative organised.

Seven teams spent a month developing prototypes at their own cost alongside one of the cooperative’s farmers before pitching to a panel of Fonterra staff and farmers in Auckland with a view to winning future services with the cooperative.

Pitch winner Job Done has a workforce management and productivity app that lets farmers to track their workers’ locations using GPS, and removes the need for paperwork such as timesheets. The company founded by Manawatu farmer Nigel Taylor was mentored by the Icehouse business incubator.

Fonterra farmer Olin Green said having more instant information and data available will help run his farm more efficiently.

“Some of the really important things such as compliance, environmental and employment regulations take a lot of time to track and manage,” he said.

Judge and Fonterra group director cooperative affairs Miles Hurrell said the brief was simple – to find new ways to help farmers reduce in input costs, improve profitability, and save time. The cooperative is considering making the competition an annual event.

The People’s Choice Award was won by Proximity for its Dairy 360 smartphone app which connects with Fonterra’s existing Fencepost app and helps farmers manage workflow and paperwork.
