SkyCity Entertainment Group, New Zealand's dominant casino company, named John Mortensen to the new role of group chief operating officer.
Mortensen was previously New Zealand chief operating officer, and stepped in as interim chief executive after former CEO Nigel Morrison resigned in April following an eight-year tenure.. The company's new chief executive Graeme Stephens starts on May 1, and Mortensen will take up his new role at that time, the Auckland-based company said in a statement.
SkyCity said Mortensen will play a key role in driving earnings and value across the group's six properties in Australia and New Zealand.
The company's shares last traded at $3.83 and have shed 13 percent this year.
