Air New Zealand said it would code share on Etihad's services between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Abu Dhabi as well as between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow. Etihad would code share on Air New Zealand trans-Tasman and domestic services.
The agreement provided Air New Zealand customers with flight options to and through the Middle East for the first time, Air New Zealand said today.
The code share flights were expected to be on sale from the end of February for travel from the end of March following relevant government approvals.
Air New Zealand code share on Etihad would include 11 return flights a week between Sydney and Abu Dhabi, three return flights a week between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi, seven return flights a week between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi, and three return flights a day between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow.
Etihad code sharing on Air New Zealand would include domestic services between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown; trans-Tasman services between Sydney and Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua and Queenstown; trans-Tasman services between Brisbane and Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington; and trans-Tasman services from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to Melbourne.
Etihad chief executive James Hogan said the agreement opened up five key destinations in this country that Etihad had been eager to offer to its customers for a long time.
