The US markets closed lower on Friday in a broad-based sell-off affecting even tech and growth stocks that had driven markets higher through much of the shortened trading week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.77%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.11% and 1.49%.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.16%), the Dax 30 (+0.68%), CAC 40 (+1.00%) and the STOXX (+0.84%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.80%), HSI (-0.04%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.06%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.631%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.33%. Oil was up to $70.90 per barrel, up 0.92%. The gold price was at US$2619.10 per ounce, down 0.66%.
