The US market closed higher on Friday, wit the Dow reaching an intraday record high, as investors cheered signs of progress in talks to end the Middle East conflict and a strong corporate earnings season.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.55%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.17% and 0.09% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.22%), the Dax 30 (+1.15%), CAC 40 (+0.38%) and the STOXX (+0.99%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.68%), HSI (-0.86%) and the Shanghai Composite (-2.04%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.558%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.123%. Oil was down to $92.33 per barrel, down 4.41%. The gold price was at US$4553.00 per ounce, down 0.42%.
