Stock Guru: Test your share picking skills

Wednesday 6th June 2007

The June Stock Guru game is about to start. You have until this Sunday to register and select your five shares. It's free to enter, fun and there are some great prizes up for grabs.

If you haven't played before, the game's concept is simple, players take $50,000 of virtual money and invest it evenly across five shares from the NZ Stock Exchange (NZX).

Players can then monitor their share portfolio until the close of the game four weeks later and discuss their strategies online with other investors.

The player with the portfolio that increases the most over the four weeks is declared the winner.

"The Stock Guru game provides a risk free platform for those who are new to share market investing and enables them to test the water while at the same time becoming more familiar with the listed companies on the NZX," says Sharechat's website manager, Vicky Powell.

"It's also a great way to see the strategies employed by other share market investors."

Entry is free and players are encouraged to share their selection strategies in the ShareChat forum.

A prize pool consisting of a new share market board game, INVESTOR and gift vouchers for wine is on offer for the top three investors. ShareChat has also donated educational books on the share market for spot prizes throughout the duration of the game.

Players can register at www.stockguru.co.nz.

Hurry! Registration and share selection for the June game closes on Sunday 10th June.
