Us market closed higher on Monday to start the final quarter of a tumultuos year in which investors fretted about aggressive interest rate hikes amid historically hot inflation and fears of slowing economic growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 2.67%. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 2.57% and 2.22% respectively.
In Europe key markets ended higher. The FTSE100 was 0.22% up, while the DAX30 was up 0.79% and the CAC40 was up 0.55%, the STOXX600 was up 0.72%.
Asian markets ended Thursday mixed. the Singapore STI (-0.74%), the Shanghai Composite (-0.55%), South Korea’s KOSPI (-0.71%) and the Hong Kong Hang Seng (-0.83%) were down, while the Nikkei 225 (+1.07%) were up.
