TEL exec to head Southern Cross Cable

The cable company, which is 50% owned by Telecom, says Fiona Beck will take up the position after the death of Baldo Sutich last month.

Ms Beck is a current board member of the cable company and also a director of EDS New Zealand.

The newly appointed CEO says plans to upgrade the cable's capability will allow the company to provide for the bandwidth requirements of the region for the next four to five years.

"I am looking forward to working with our team to extend Southern Cross' market leadership position," Ms Beck says.
