US markets closed higher on Wednesday, helped by the bets that the Federal Reserve had reached the end of its rate hikes, although a rise in Treasury yields and some underwhelming earnings reports kept gains in check. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.36%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.34% and 1.17% respectively.

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.17%), the Dax 30 (+0.36%), CAC 40 (+0.43%) and the STOXX (+0.46%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225 (+0.29%), HSI (+0.00%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.79%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.416%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.908%. Oil was up to $77.03 per barrel, down 0.95%. The gold price was at US$1992.80 per ounce, down 0.44%.
