11th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets ended lower on Monday as the treasury yield goes to a 2-year high. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.74%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.64% and 0.75%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed mixed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.53%), the Dax 30 (-1.13%), CAC 40 (-1.44%) and the STOXX (-1.54%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.03%), HSI (+1.08%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.39%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.78%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.904%. Oil was up to $80.75 per barrel, down 1.22%. The gold price was at US$1800.61 per ounce, up 0.29%.
