Market Close: Shares fall, Hellaby Holdings soar

The Sharemarket was moderate today. Prices were mixed with 51 falls and 48 rises. Total turnover was $96,433,024.

The Sharemarket fell slightly today with the NZSE50 down -0.60% (-19.34 points) from previous close to end the day at 3,175.

The most actively traded stock on the sharemarket, with over 12.2 million shares changing hands was Telecom NZ, closing the day down 3.4% from it's opening to $3.45. The next biggest trader was NZ Oil and Gas continuing it's up trend at $1.86 with over 4.6 million shares being traded.

Top share of the day was Hellaby Holdings, soaring 21% to $1.64, while the biggest loser was Nuplex Industries, down 6% to $5.10 and Fletcher Building lost 1.3% to $6.27. New Zealand Oil and Gas continued its stellar run closing up 4.5% to $1.86 as oil prices continue to rise.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 76.4 points, or 1.46%, to 5138.9 while the broader All Ordinaries shed 71.8 points, or 1.35%, to 5261.1.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 3.50 points, or 0.03%, to 11,350.01. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.62 points, or 0.13%, at 1,280.00.
The Nasdaq composite index was down 22.65 points, or 0.98%, at 2,292.98.
