US markets closed higher on Monday ahead of a packed week of earnings from megacap companies and the final stretch before the Nov. 5 election, while sentiment also improved after energy supplies were not disrupted by weekend developments in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.65%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.27% and 0.26%.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.45%), the Dax 30 (+0.35%), CAC 40 (+0.79%) and the STOXX (+0.54%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.82%), HSI (+0.04%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.68%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.278%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.133%. Oil was up to $68.00 per barrel, down 5.27%. The gold price was at US$2755.00 per ounce, up 0.01%.
