US markets closed higher on Thursday, even as a strong revenue forecast for Nvidia fueled a surge in its shares, but that was overshadowed by economic data showing inflation was still a concern that could delay any Federal Reserve rate cuts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.51%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.27% and 0.18% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.37%), the Dax 30 (+0.06%), CAC 40 (+0.13%) and the STOXX (+0.25%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.26%), HSI (-1.70%) and the Shanghai Composite (-1.13%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.481%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.942%. Oil was up to $76.88 per barrel, down 0.89%. The gold price was at US$2329.50 per ounce, down 2.65%.
