On 5 October 2021, Infratil announced that it had committed £120-130 million of growth capital to London data centre business, Kao Data. That announcement noted that Kao Data had recently signed an agreement to acquire two UK prime location data centres with a long-term anchor lease from a large financial services business.
Infratil advises that Kao Data has now settled the acquisition of those two prime location data centres, which will enable Kao Data to deliver multi-site services for its clients.
The settlement includes an announcement of the availability of a 16 Megawatt (MW), carrier-neutral data centre in Slough, West London.
“The launch of our new Slough data centre offers data-intensive enterprises within the highly sought-after West London Availability Zone, the opportunity to benefit from significant new capacity, as well as the advantage of working with Kao Data’s award-winning, sustainable infrastructure and expert technical and operations teams,” said Lee Myall, CEO, Kao Data.
Following completion of the acquisition of the data centres, Infratil has now contributed capital of £106.7 million to Kao Data and increased its stake in Kao Data to 40% (previously 20%).
There is no change to Infratil’s FY2022 guidance as a result of the increased stake in Kao Data.
