Sinclair for CEO?

By Duncan Bridgeman

Text too small?
A new chief executive could be lurking beneath the wing of Air New Zealand and it's not Ralph Norris.

According to sources close to the company, recently appointed chief information officer Craig Sinclair is being groomed to take over the top job.

Mr Sinclair was appointed CIO on the back of strong support from board members and is seen by some as a logical replacement for Mr Norris, who took over as CEO following the departure of Gary Toomey last year.

There is no suggestion Mr Norris is about to leave. Mr Sinclair was chief executive of Airways Corporation, which operates New Zealand's air traffic control system, from 1996.
