12th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets ended higher on Tuesday regardless of Powell's reiteration that Federal Reserve will try to control the inflation. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed + 0.38%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.69% and 1.21%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.62%), the Dax 30 (+1.10%), CAC 40 (0.95%) and the STOXX (+0.99%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.90%), HSI (-0.03%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.73%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.75%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.899%. Oil was up to $83.89 per barrel, up 3.73%. The gold price was at US$1821.23 per ounce, up 1.11%.
