Laundry company Taylors (NZSE: TAY) is paying more than $6 million to acquire an Auckland-based cleaning business.

Taylors, which is 66% owned by Spotless Services, is buying Laundry & Dry Cleaning Limited, a company which specialises in the airline, industrial and hotel and corporate sectors.

Taylors MD, Maurice Nicholson, says the purchase significantly strengthens the company's industrial services segment.

"LDC is exceptionally well run and has an enviable reputation with its clients and in the market generally."

The company says the acquisition, by way of share purchase of around $6.2 million, will be completed at the end of the week.

The acquisition will boost staff numbers at Taylors by 120.
