February 10th Morning Report

US markets ended mixed on Monday, after briefly surpassing its record closing high from November 2021, but the Dow and the S&P 500 rose modestly ahead of two US inflation repirts this week that could influence Federal Reserve policy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.26%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.57% and up 1.25% respectively.

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.01%), the Dax 30 (+0.65%), CAC 40 (+0.55%) and the STOXX (+0.65%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.09%), HSI (-0.83%) and the Shanghai Composite (+1.28%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.166%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.47%. Oil was up to $78.87 per barrel, up 0.04%. The gold price was at US$2032.80 per ounce, down 0.29%.
