Fonterra Cooperative Group, the world's biggest dairy exporter, named Lukas Paravicini as chief financial officer, replacing Jonathan Mason who retires at the end of September.

Paravicini will join Fonterra in September after 22 years with Nestle, Fonterra said in a statement. He was Nestle Professional Europe general manager for the past two years and previously held senior finance positions in the Nestle business, including running the company's Global Business Services unit and spending 10 years in Latin America.

Fonterra chief executive Theo Spierings, who joined the company in 2011, said Paravicini has a good understanding of dairy and has worked in some of Fonterra's most strategically important markets.

The dairy cooperative also named Jacqueline Chow in the new role of managing director of Global Brands & Nutrition, driving the firm's overall marketing, innovation and research activities.

Chow has a 20-year career in blue-chip multinationals, most recently with Arnott's where she was general manager of Australia and New Zealand, and has held executive marketing and innovation roles at Campbell's and the Kellogg Company. She begins in October.

Fonterra said a new organisational structure will take effect from the start of its financial year on August 1.
