Vodafone director of technology Jeni Mundy said although the company was looking at introducing new systems regionally and had recently transferred its IT help desk to Hewlett Packard, there was no proposal to shift major back-end IT work out of Vodafone.
"We've got several large projects on for some of our back-end systems and we are talking to vendors and people around that. But we are not planning major changes that would impact on a significant number of staff not right at this very second."
However a source said Vodafone had approached several IT consultancy firms to discuss opportunities to move significant amounts of work to a third party.
Vodafone New Zealand had committed itself to working more closely with Australia but always maintained the local company would be run independently.
Ms Mundy said being part of a global business meant implementing the same sort of customer experience as in Australia and the company was always looking at new systems to achieve that.
"We're always looking at what we should be doing and what other people could be doing better than us," she said.
"We're talking to various people about options all the time we'd be very foolish if we didn't but there are no plans for large-scale outsourcing."
Vodafone's New Zealand net assets recently topped $1 billion for the first time in March, up $64 million over the year.
