Auckland Airport has announced the appointment of Melanie Dooney as General Manager Corporate Services.
Ms Dooney will join Auckland Airport in early November, taking responsibility for health, safety and wellbeing, people and capability, people services, public relations and government relations, and legal at Auckland Airport.
Auckland Airport Chief Executive Carrie Hurihanganui said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Melanie to Auckland Airport at an exciting time for our organisation. International travel’s ramping up and construction projects are kicking back to life again as we work to deliver an exceptional experience for our employees, airport partners and every customer that passes through our doors.
“Melanie’s a proven people leader who brings a wealth of knowledge across organisational development, human resources, engagement, culture and communications and I know she will make a positive impact as we set our sights on the future.”
Over the past 20 years, Ms Dooney has worked in senior human resources and finance roles in New Zealand and internationally across manufacturing, IT and financial service sectors. Ms Dooney joins Auckland Airport from her current role as Chief People Officer for Te Whatu Ora, Auckland District, where she led her team through the challenges of the pandemic. She has recently held responsibility for establishing the People & Culture function for the corporate office of Te Whatu Ora, supporting employees who have transferred to Te Whatu Ora from the Ministry of Health as well as the new executive structure.
Ms Dooney said she’s delighted to be joining Auckland Airport at such an exciting time of transformation for the organisation.

Melanie holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science in Biochemistry degree, both from the University of Otago.
Ms Dooney replaces Mary-Liz Tuck who has moved into a newly created internal position of General Manager Strategic Infrastructure Planning & Transformation.
