Refining NZ announces the appointment by the Board of Lucy Nation as a Director of the Company, effective 1 February 2021.

Lucy is currently bp’s Vice President of Regions, Cities and Solutions for Asia Pacific leading a team which focuses on green energy transition for bp and its customers in the region. Prior to January, Lucy was the CFO for bp’s Asia Pacific Fuels business. She was nominated by bp on invitation by the Refining NZ Board as a replacement for Debi Boffa, who is resigning as a director as previously announced and with effect on 1 February 2021, the same date as Lucy’s appointment.

Lucy has worked for bp for the last 23 years in finance, strategy, business development, commercial and management roles and brings extensive industry experience in refining, terminals, fuel supply chain and the transition to low carbon fuels to the Refining NZ Board. Lucy holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

Chairman Simon Allen said “We are delighted to have someone with Lucy’s industry and strategic experience join our Board. Lucy’s background in strategy and finance will be of great value to the Board as we continue to work through with customers the potential future transition to an import terminal model and position the Company for future growth opportunities, including growth in infrastructure and low carbon fuels.”

Lucy commented, “I am really looking forward to joining the Board of Refining NZ at a time of great change, challenges and opportunities for the energy sector regionally and globally. The Executive team have been focused on strategy over 2020 with strong support from the board and I look forward to supporting their efforts to drive value for shareholders and competitive energy supply for New Zealand.”

The Board has determined that Lucy will not be an Independent Director for the purposes of the NZX Listing Rules, as she is a senior employee within the bp group of companies.

As a director appointed by the Board, Lucy will be subject to re-election at the next Annual Meeting of Refining NZ shareholders.
