US markets closed mixed on Thursday, as persistent worries about rising global interest rates and recessions hounded stocks, bonds and oil prices, and vaulted the US dollar to a 24-year high against the yen. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.46%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.30% and 0.26% respectively.

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.86%), the Dax 30 (-1.60%), CAC 40 (-1.48%) and the STOXX (-1.72%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.53%), HSI (-1.79%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.54%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.259%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.404%. Oil was down to $86.34 per barrel, down 3.58%. The gold price was at US$1708.30 per ounce, down 1.04%.
