Speirs Foods appoints new GM

The directors of Speirs Group Limited announce that Christopher Newton has been appointed General Manager of Speirs Foods, the fresh food commercial arm of the company. The appointment is effective from 10 May 2010.

Chris Newton has a long experience in the fresh food industry in New Zealand and overseas, having held senior marketing roles with major New Zealand food companies supplying both the domestic and world markets, including PPCS Limited, Richmond Limited and ANZCO/NZ Lamb Company. More recently, he held the position of CEO of Five Star Pork NZ and now moves from the position of Strategic Marketing for Federated Farmers of NZ to join Speirs Group.

Based in Marton, Speirs Foods is a principal manufacturer and nationwide supplier of chilled salads and fresh-cut vegetables to supermarkets in New Zealand.

Newton takes over the position of General Manager Speirs Foods from David Speirs who has headed the management team of the division since 2000.
