The US Market closed higher on Friday, with the blue-chip Dow hitting a record high. In his Jackson Hole speech, US Federal Reserve Jerome Powell paved the way for a potential rate cut at the Fed's September meeting.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.89%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.52% and 1.88% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.13%), the Dax 30 (+0.29%), CAC 40 (+0.40%) and the STOXX (+0.48%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.05%), HSI (+0.93%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.02%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.256%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.698%. Oil was up to $63.66 per barrel, up 0.22%. The gold price was at US$3418.50 per ounce, up 1.09%.
