The US market closed higher on Friday, while the blue-chip Dow marked its highest finish since late February, as investors cheered Iran's decision to open th Strait of Hormuz and were optimistic it could reach a deal with the United States to end their war.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.79%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.20% and 1.52% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.73%), the Dax 30 (+2.27%), CAC 40 (+1.97%) and the STOXX (+2.10%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.75%), HSI (-0.89%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.10%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.248%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.706%. Oil was down to $82.59 per barrel, down 11.45%. The gold price was at US$4879.60 per ounce, up 1.48%.
