Re: [sharechat] Telecom v Telstra

I have just completed a comparison of TEL and TLS share prices since Sept '99 which may be  of interest. In this period TLS has almost always been priced higher than TEL. The difference was about $2.00 in Sept '99 dropping to 10 cents in  May '00 and rising to $3.39 Dec '00. Yesterday it was $1.30.

The question  is what does it all mean? Presumably if you want to own part of a phone company then it would at times be advantageous to switch between these two shares depending on this difference. At the moment the difference is gently trending down. ie. the Telecom price is rising relative to the Telstra price. It is now significantly less than the long-term average of $1.76. If this trend continues then it would be a good move to switch to Telecom.
