Brierley says SIA best partner for Air NZ

SINGAPORE -
Singapore Airlines is the best company to buy a stake of
Air New Zealand, a major shareholder of the New Zealand airline said
today.
Currently the two known bidders for Brierley Investment's 47.1 percent stake
in Air New Zealand are Singapore Airlines and Australia's Qantas Airways.
"We began this process talking to Singapore Airlines because we believe they
are the best airline in the world and an excellent partner for Air New
Zealand going forward," Greg Terry, chief executive of Brierley Investments
said in an interview with
CNBC Asia.
Brierley said on Monday that it has suspended talks on the sale until the
New Zealand airline completes the acquisition of Australia's Ansett Holdings
Ltd.
