The US market closed higher on Monday as signs of de-escalating US-Iran tensions pulled down oil prices and Treasury yields in a busy week for earnings and economic data.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.32%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.48% and 2.13% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.10%), the Dax 30 (+1.45%), CAC 40 (+1.22%) and the STOXX (+1.08%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.94%), HSI (+0.48%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.59%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.676%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.241%. Oil was down to $80.06 per barrel, down 5.44%. The gold price was at US$4110.90 per ounce, up 0.09%.
