Pursuant to NZX Listing Rule 3.20.1(a), SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited (SkyCity) is pleased to announce that Avril Baynes, currently Interim Chief Operating Officer Australia, has been appointed Managing Director Adelaide effective from 16 September 2024.
Ms Baynes was appointed to the role of Interim Chief Operating Officer Australia in April 2024 and is responsible for SkyCity’s Adelaide business and overseeing the Australian inter-state gaming business. She first joined SkyCity in March 2015 as an Executive Manager at the SkyCity Darwin casino where she oversaw a variety of portfolios, including human resources, food and beverage and tourism, until SkyCity divested its interest in the SkyCity Darwin business in April 2019. Ms Baynes returned to SkyCity in November 2023 as General Manager Hospitality at SkyCity Adelaide. Prior to returning to SkyCity, she was General Manager of the Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, Australia, from November 2020 to November 2023.
SkyCity Chief Executive Officer Jason Walbridge commented “I’m delighted that Avril has agreed to lead our team in Adelaide on a permanent basis. She has led our uplift activities in Adelaide over the last five months and will continue to prioritise these alongside working closely with our regulators”.
Note: As a result of this change, Ms Baynes will no longer meet the definition of a ‘senior manager’ for the purposes of the NZX Listing Rules from 16 September 2024. Ms Baynes will remain a member of SkyCity’s Senior Leadership Team.
