The US market closed modestly higher on Wednesday as a key inflation report and a flurry of bank earnings failed to excite investors. But the Nas daq Composite posted a record close, supported by a jump in shares of heavyweight Nvidia.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.53%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.32% and up 0.26% respectively.

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.13%), the Dax 30 (-0.21%), CAC 40 (-0.57%) and the STOXX (-1.05%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.04%), HSI (-0.29%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.035%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.459%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.896%. Oil was up to $66.63 per barrel, up 0.17%. The gold price was at US$3354.60 per ounce, up 0.54%.
