Leading New Zealand and Australian fashion brands were among more than 150 specialty stores launching yesterday, completing stage three of the $55 million redevelopment of Westfield New Zealand's flagship shopping centre St Lukes in Auckland.

Westfield's drive to dress up its centres to satisfy more upmarket tastes and boost revenue includes snagging High St fashion designer Stella Gregg and boutique giftware store L'Occitane, which will join Australia's Cue Design, menswear store Rodd & Gunn, Line 7 and shoe shop Scarpa.

Westfield New Zealand director John Widdup said Westfield's redevelopment and new tenants was a response to growing demand from the "affluent population" in the area.

Yesterday's launch is to be followed by the completion of an eight-screen multiplex cinema in April.
