Simon Allen has been elected chairman of New Zealand Refining Co, which operates the Marsden Point refinery, replacing David Jackson who stepped down at yesterday's annual meeting.
Shareholders yesterday ratified Allen's appointment to the board in December, and prior to the meeting he was appointed chair by his fellow directors, NZ Refining said in a statement.
"The board believes Simon's considerable business experience, proven leadership and strategic insight will complement that of his fellow directors," the company said.
Allen also chairs the Financial Markets Authority and Crown Fibre Holdings and is a director of Auckland Council Investments.
Shares of NZ Refining increased 0.8 percent to $2.53, and have gained 14 percent this year.
