The managing director of tech investor IT Capital (NZSE: ITC), Keith Phillips, is leaving to set up his own business in Auckland.

Mr Phillips will stay with ITC until the end of next month and will continue as chairman of the company's Deep Video Imaging investment and as a director of Virtual Spectator.

Mr Phillips says the focus of his new venture would be on the local knowledge economy.

"These portfolio companies are in good hands and I am looking forward to the challenge of identifying the next generation of great Kiwi technologies and to do what I can to assist NZ with its transformation into a knowledge economy."

The company's CEO, US-based Jeff Dittus, says IT Capital chairman, John Robertson, will take the role of executive chairman.
