19th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. market ended lower on Tuesday after U.S. Treasury yields jumped to 2-year highs. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 1.24%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.47% and 1.98%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.63%), the Dax 30 (-1.01%), CAC 40 (-0.94%) and the STOXX (-1.03%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.27%), HSI (-0.43%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.80%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.86, while the 2 - year note was at 1.04%. Oil was up to $87.96 per barrel, up 1.71%. The gold price was at US$1814.28 per ounce, down 0.28%.
