US markets closed lower on Friday but well beow its session high and all three of Wall Street's major averages posted weekly declines as investors worried about interest rates and waited anxiously for upcoming US inflation readings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.17%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.32% and down 0.89% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.49%), the Dax 30 (+0.14%), CAC 40 (+0.62%) and the STOXX (+0.38%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.16%), HSI (-0.00%) and the Shanghai Composite (-1.13%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.26%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.989%. Oil was up to $87.23 per barrel, up 0.32%. The gold price was at US$1942.60 per ounce, down 0.01%.
