A state-of-the-art packaging hall is a prime focus of a $60 million redevelopment project set to start immediately at DB Group's (NZSE: DBG) Waitemata Brewery in Auckland.

The development will take two years to complete and is the final stage of an overall redevelopment of the brewery which began in 1992.

DB Group's MD, Brian Blake says the project is integral to the company's ongoing development.

"High quality packaging is a key component of the marketing mix, particularly with premium brands and we must have the flexibility to deliver a variety of high-capacity runs promptly."

"The new packaging hall at the Waitemata Brewery will be able to meet our customers' and consumers' requirements, with flexibility and efficiency, well into the future."

Mr Blake says the development is the result of considerable planning and utilises the company's 70-year brewing history combined with Heineken's design and process expertise and experience.
