Waste Management (NZSE: WAM) says it's close to finalising two Australian acquisitions.

The waste company, which has been investigating overseas expansion, says agreements to buy two small waste businesses in Australia are in the final stages.

It says the board expects to be in a position to decided whether to proceed with each transaction before the end of June.

In the year to ended December WAM made a $14.3 million, up from $11.7 million previously.

It said then that it had been spending funds looking at overseas opportunities in Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom.
