The US markets closed higher on Monday, lifted by Nvidia and Tesla following signs that the Trump administration might take a more measured approach on tariffs against US trading partners.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.43%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.73% and 2.21% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.10%), the Dax 30 (-0.17%), CAC 40 (-0.26%) and the STOXX (-0.15%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.18%), HSI (+0.91%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.15%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.338%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.041%. Oil was up to $70.18 per barrel, up 1.37%. The gold price was at US$3004.60 per ounce, down 0.28%.
