US markets closed with a modest bounce on Friday but still suffered a big weekly decline as investors were concerned about the growing probability of a recession while central banks tried to control the inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.13%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.22% and 1.43% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.41%), the Dax 30 (+0.67%), CAC 40 (-0.06%) and the STOXX (+0.31%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.77%), HSI (+1.10%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.96%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.231%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.17%. Oil was up to $113.1 per barrel, down 5.58%. The gold price was at US$1840.25 per ounce, down 0.59%.
