May 29th Morning Report

US markets closed mixed on Tuesday as the Nasdaq crossed 17,000 for the first time ever, boosted by gains in Nvidia, while the S&P 500 closed slightly higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.55%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.02% and 0.59% respectively.

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.76%), the Dax 30 (-0.52%), CAC 40 (-0.92%) and the STOXX (-0.57%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.11%), HSI (-0.03%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.46%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.548%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.979%. Oil was up to $80.16 per barrel, up 3.14%. The gold price was at US$2360.70 per ounce, up 1.12%.
