US markets ended higher on Thursday, as Micron Technology shares rallied and a strong US jobless claims report eased labor market concerns. Shares of Micron Technology rose 15.78% after the memory chip maker projected first-quarter revenue above expectations, highlighting strong demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence computing.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.62%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.40% and up 0.60%.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.20%), the Dax 30 (+1.69%), CAC 40 (+2.33%) and the STOXX (+2.35%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.79%), HSI (+4.16%) and the Shanghai Composite (+3.61%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.796%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.627%. Oil was up to $67.46 per barrel, down 3.20%. The gold price was at US$2695.00 per ounce, up 0.38%.
