The US market closed higher on Wednesday as investors weighed a report that Iranian operatives secretively reached out to the US to pursue talks to end the conflict, while President Donald Trump's assurance to stabilize oil markets also boosted sentiment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.64%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.01% and 1.58% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.80%), the Dax 30 (+1.74%), CAC 40 (+0.79%) and the STOXX (+1.72%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-3.61%), HSI (-2.01%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.98%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.082%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.541%. Oil was up to $74.61 per barrel, up 0.07%. The gold price was at US$5150.29 per ounce, up 0.52%.
